The vegan dining scene in Christchurch has really exploded in the past couple of years. Whether you are vegan, vegan curious or just want to try some delicious food then here are some places you must try!
The Herb Centre
The Herb Centre is a medicinal herb dispensary and natural health store, a clinic, and café. The café serve nutritional, whole foods specialising in offering gluten free, dairy free and vegan options. They have a great range of specials that change with the seasons like this lasagne (pictured with salads).
Town Tonic is open for breakfast right through to dinner and have an extensive vegan menu. My favourite dish for brunch is the Vegan Hash (pictured). Beautiful hash with seasonal vegetables and vegan aioli, a must try.
A beautiful modern café in St Albans, The Origin have a 100% vegan menu. Insider tip: this is a great place to hotspot from. They have free wifi, chilled vibes and amazing food and coffee and tea. They also are onion and garlic free.
The Lotus Heart
The Lotus-Heart is a vegetarian restaurant with a menu that is predominantly wholefood plant-based with ample gluten-free options and choices for those on raw food diets. The food is creative and changes with the seasons. Tip: There is also a health food store on site.
Did someone say Vegan Donuts? Portershed do a wide range of your favourite foods suitable for vegans! Whether it is a sausage roll you are craving, a cheese scone or a donut Portershed have a vegan version that is bound to satisfy.
Located in Sumner, Utopia Ice have a range of delicious ice creams both traditional and vegan, waffles and hot drinks. The salted chocolate is delicious. They also have a stall at the Christchurch Farmers Market.
BearLion Foods have the best salads in Christchurch! Each week they have 4 new tasty flavours on offer. There are always vegan options. You can find their Deli in New Brighton or they have a stall at the Christchurch Farmers Market. They also pop up at different expos and events.
Whether it is shopping for beautiful locally sourced organic produce or wholefoods Piko have something for the health conscious. But did you know they do a delicious Piko Bowl? An organic, plant based bowl full of creative deliciousness. There is a different bowl Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week and the best part is that it is less than $10!
With a range of cabinet food designed to go or a menu that changes with the seasons. Raw Sugar offer a friendly vibe and a fully vegetarian/vegan menu.
