Expanding Leisure Activities
Terrace Down is expanding the range of
leisure and adventure activities it offers. For example, guests can
now play paintball or try out one of their orienteering courses.
Soon they're going to have custom-built grass karts for guests to
hire and we've joined forces with adventure company " Full
On" to create a new offering on the Rakaia River - a jet
boating and kayaking combo.
It is now offering larger groups
near-exclusive access to its facilities during the first half of
the week. In the remaining half of the week the Resort will be open
as usual to anyone in search of a luxurious getaway in one of New
Zealand's most breath-taking locations.
Discovery Jet
There's double the thrill and fun on
the Rakaia River now with the addition of their second Discovery
Jet boat now operating! Discovery Jet are operating every day of
the year from the Rakaia Gorge, weather and river conditions
dependent! They are now operating two commercial jetboats and can
seat 21 passengers at one time.
Their trips vary from group to group,
from shorter trips to full day charters. They have two standard
trips, our 30 min top of the Gorge trip, and a longer trip, approx
45 min. This longer trip is where you will travel out through the
top of the Rakaia Gorge, up through braided channels, through a
good boulder field of rapids, to ever changing high country
landscape, with incredible photo opportunities looking out to Mt
Hutt and up to the Southern Alps.
All their tours have a variety of
boating, from a very scenic jetboat tour to mixing it up with a few
calculated twists, turns and exciting Jet Spins! There are stops
along the way for photo opportunities and where your driver will
talk of the areas tourism, history, flora and fauna and local
personalities.
