Often proclaimed as the greatest racehorse the world has ever
seen, Timaru born Phar Lap remains a hero in the eyes of New
Zealanders and Australians almost 80 years after his death.
Such is the strength of the Phar Lap legend that it has become the
focus for events and tourism development in the Central South
Island region.

Henare Akuhata-Brown, or more commonly referred to as "H",
opened Cargo Bar, in August 2011 after his hospitality businesses
(Lyme Bar and Bean Scene Café) in the Central City of Christchurch
were closed due to the earthquakes on 22nd February
2011.

Islands on the back of a whale many centuries ago. His descendants
include the Kati Kuri people of Kaikoura.
