Trade Update
The trade team have been busy working on a number of projects
over the past quarter with online 'webinars', sales calls, the
Rugby World Cup and TRENZ. Here is a summary of some of the major
ones.
International Trade
- Continued support and communication was provided to off shore
wholesalers which now include Rugby World Cup Official Travel
Agents (OTA's). These agents will become a major focus as we build
up to the 2011 event.
- Sales calls were undertaken by Hugh Packer & Rowan Townsend
to sixteen Auckland based and three Christchurch Inbound Operators
(IBO's). Updates on new products, itinerary development,
opportunities for new product to be added to programs and staff
training was undertaken where appropriate.
- No overseas trade visits were undertaken over the
summer/Christmas period.
UK/Europe Webinar
- Presentation to between 40-50 New Zealand specialist agents
from UK, Ireland & Continental Europe in conjunction with
Tourism New Zealand. The focus is targeting longer stays in
Christchurch & Canterbury, large range of activities with a
clear message that Christchurch is the Heart of the South with its
big backyard of Canterbury. Rugby World Cup and Great Wine Capital
key points were included. The presentation was well received with
new contacts being made and supplied by Tourism New Zealand.
TRENZ 2010
- Continued planning and organisation continues and attention
devoted to theming with Business Partner Exhibitors. The
Christchurch & Canterbury regional setup has 15 exhibitors
(this does not include those exhibiting on National stands such as
hotel chains). Close communication between CCT and the exhibitors
will be important as we get closer to the event.
Months Ahead
- Trade visit to Australia in conjunction with Tourism New
Zealand and other RTO's early March.
- Plan on future touring itineraries to benefit region.
- TRENZ preparation
