PR & Media Update
Public Relations
CCT's Public Relations and Media Programme has produced
excellent results for the region this summer. We have a new
partnership in Australia with Australian PR leader Barking Owl
Communications and Jill Collins, who was involved in last year's
successful "Hamilton Island/Best Job in the World" campaign.
We'd like to remind you to tell us about any connections you
have with Australia - that the Australian media might consider a
good "hook" from Christchurch. Also, any news, quirky summer guest
stories, or ideas relating to Rugby World Cup 2011.
CCT has launched a new facebook page where we promote business
partners' "hot deals," news and upcoming events. It has proven
popular already and we encourage you to become a fan and post your
own news and especially photos.
Search for "Christchurch & Canterbury NZ" and follow our
posts!
A new blog space on the CCT web site has enabled us to promote
timely news throughout the region - for example, a visit from the
BBC filming "Wanted Downunder", and "Top 10 Happy Hours in
Christchurch".
Make sure you keep involved and raise your profile by sending us
news and ideas to promote.
Media Visits
January and February have been busy with Christchurch and
Canterbury being a popular destination for media! Tourism New
Zealand's International Media Programme has already generated 10
visits to our region since the start of 2010 and we expect March
and April to be as busy.
Cecile has hosted the first Summer 2010 famil to Hanmer Springs,
taking in the final weekend of Christchurch's World Buskers
Festival, in January. Another three journalists, including a writer
from Australia's largest newspaper - The Australian - are
exploring Banks Peninsula at the moment.
We would like to thank you for regularly sending fresh imagery -
please keep it coming! It helps a great deal to support your
business' promotion. We encourage you to read the regular updates
sent to you as we often list media opportunities that might be the
perfect fit for your business. Thank you to all of you who replied
to these updates.
We are constantly replying to various media enquiries and it's
fantastic to be able to profile your businesses in our replies.
Remember - we can never hear from you too often, with news and
updates.
More Media trips are being planned for Autumn and Winter. CCT
will host two Australian publications during Ellerslie
International Flower show: Your Garden and House & Garden.
We are currently coordinating visits from media who will self
drive in various part of the region. We invite you to let us know
if you would be willing to host journalists should they be coming
to your area. We thank you for your continued support.
