The New Zealand ski season has begun thanks to the snow laden, cold southerly blasts that recently passed over the country. Brisk days often start with a crisp early morning frost and are followed by a sunny winter's day.

The Canterbury region is the ‘capital’ of skiing in New Zealand and has over 10 ski areas all within 2 ½ hours drive of Christchurch International Airport. Commercial ski areas, club ski fields, skiing, snowboarding or try a spot of heli-skiing

The mountain regions in Canterbury:
  • Aoraki Mt Cook.  At 3,754 metres above sea level, Aoraki Mount Cook provides the focal point of the Mackenzie region. Combine that with the unique deep turquoise colour of several glacial lakes and you have scenery that'll leave you breathless For itinerary options and product information at Aoraki Mount Cook please click here
  •  Methven/ Mt Hutt.  Each year thousands of visitors from around the world base themselves at Methven Mt Hutt Village, at the heart of seven ski areas and over 1000 square kilometers of the best heli-skiing terrain in New Zealand.  The village is also a popular summer resort for overseas visitors and New Zealand residents alike.  For itinerary options and product information at Mt Hutt / Methven please click here
  • The Kaikoura mountain range shows rugged coastal beauty set against a stunning mountain backdrop - marine life, bird life, a rich Maori historical background, hunting, skiing, crafts and wine. For itinerary options and product information in Kaikoura please click here
