The Hotel was closed for an architecturally designed upgrade and refurbishment in June 2003 and then subsequently reopened in May 2004. The upgrade included automatic fire sprinklers throughout, smoke detection, Wheelchair units, CCTV and 24hr PIR access.
In May 2007 the Hotel was the recipient of the prestigious Invercargill City Council Environment Award "in recognition of the work done is conserving this Invercargill landmark" and "the contribution to the environment that your property makes".
The Hotel specializes in accommodation with a range of options from Standard to Executive and VIP Rooms.
Lounge Bar and on site Dining for House Guests is available within the Hotel at Gerrard's Restaurant where the focus is traditional kiwi fare, fine Invercargill Beers and kiwi wines.

Directions

From Queenstown Continue along State Highway 6 in towards the centre of Invercargill City. The State Highway will become Main North Road and then Dee Street. At McDonalds (Victoria Ave) turn right for one block, then take the first left hand turn. This is Leven Street. Continue along Leven Street for two blocks, the Hotel is the first building on the left after the City Council Car Park. From Dunedin Continue along State Highway 1 in towards the centre of Invercargill City. The State Highway will become Tay Street. Drive the full length of Tay Street and proceed through the Troopers Memorial Intersection with Dee Street. This short section of road gently curving to the right is The Crescent. At the roundabout (a three way intersection) turn right. This is Leven Street. The Hotel is on the right and the Main Entrance to the Hotel is “at the other end of the building”.
