Gunyah Country Estate 3140784

The garden has several original native trees including one of the southernmost kauris, many rare native bellbirds, & the original large fruit orchard. The azaleas and rhododendrons are original to the house, brought to New Zealand by Thomas Potts himself. There are a number of structures: a gazebo, a folly, a rotunda and also a pond under construction. We are at the feet of Mt Hutt and have a grand view. The Lodge is set in 25 acres of grounds, mature trees, new plantings and farmland. It was established 1912 by Millicent Hall, daughter of TH Potts, one of New Zealand'se most renowned early botanists & conservationists, & her children. The chicken run features Pekinese bantams, Araucanas, Barnevelders, Shavers and a Peahen.
